Is sponsoring a child an effective way to help?
By sponsoring a child, you help a little boy or girl deal with the overwhelming challenges of desperate poverty. You help provide the very basics of life: food, emergency medicine, and child care. Through focusing on children six and under, you reach out to the age group that is most vulnerable and for whom you can make a difference that lasts a lifetime. How are children chosen for sponsorship?
Community leaders identify each neighborhood's most vulnerable young children. Priority is given to orphans and to children with severe malnutrition, a chronic disease or a single parent. Parents are expected to support the child care centers as volunteers and allow monitoring of their child's health and developmental status.

How long will I sponsor my child?
You can continue to sponsor your child as long as he or she is enrolled at the GCL-supported child care center. In some cases, sponsorship may be extended for a year or two because of extreme need or special circumstances.

As a child sponsor, what will I receive from GCL?
When you become a sponsor, you will receive a Sponsorship Thank You Package from Give A Child Life. This includes a photograph of your child and information about the child's history, family, favorite activities, etc. You'll also receive your child's development assessment at the beginning and end of the year, so you can track his or her progress. From time to time, we'll update you on how your compassion is helping change the life of your child's family and community.

What if I want to do more?
You can contribute to provide food for hungry families or medicines and other necessities for children who are facing life-threatening
illnesses and other crises. Click here to donate.

Are the funds given to GCL handled responsibly?
No sponsorship funds are deducted from overhead. Every dollar you give will go directly to help your child. If you'd like an annual
report, please request it.

Can I get an official tax receipt for donation?
GCL issues immediate receipts for specific donations and cumulative tax receipts at the end of each year. Receipts are typically
mailed before January 30th.

How do I update my contact or payment information?
